MCDGI INITIATES WORKSHOP ON ‘THE NEED FOR RISK AND CONTROL MONITORING FRAMEWORK’

The Maldives Capacity Development and Governance Institute (MCDGI) is initiating a special workshop on ‘the need for Risk and Control Monitoring Framework’ which will allow businesses to implement a “robust Risk and Control Monitoring framework to create business value and minimize risk.”

The one-day workshop will be held at the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) on 18 September starting at 09:00hrs and lasting until 17:00hrs of the same day.

Participants of the workshop will have a better understanding on the risks, controls and monitoring framework cycle as well as alignment to business strategy.

Furthermore, participants can understand comprehensively on identifying the risk and control as well as alignment of the framework to operational procedures. In addition to this, knowledge on risk mapping, key risk indicators, risk assessment and residual and target risks will be given at the workshop.

The one-day workshop will also detail on the corrective action planning, incident and assessment reporting, preparation of dashboards and management interaction along with knowledge on other parallel monitoring functions.

The participants will be provided with adequate knowledge and skill they can use to implement the framework in their own industry and businesses.

The information and workshop session will be carried out with the assistance of Mr Shiraz Sideek, the Senior Associate Consultant of Bank T&D Consultants (UK) and Managing Director of MSI Management Consultants.

Mr Sideek is an experienced banking professional with an MBA academic credential on Information Systems Management from USA and an MBA in Risk Management. Moreover, he is a certified fraud examiner, information security manager and an information systems auditor.

With knowledge of the banking industry spanning a 38-year duration, Mr Sideek possess unparalleled knowledge in banking technology, operations and risk management and internal audit both in conventional and Islamic banking within Sri Lanka and MENA region.

According to the organizer the workshop will benefit various corporate individuals and key industry players such as business operations managers, internal controllers, internal auditors, business process managers, risk managers, business unit heads, sales and marketing managers, compliance managers and strategy managers among several other managerial and executive level professionals.

Participants are expected to invest an amount of USD90 as a participation fee which will include refreshment, lunch and certification at the end of the workshop.
