Being a 100% Muslim country, Islamic Finance is of crucial importance to the Maldives and its people. The Maldivians are aware of Islamic Finance now, more than ever, and appreciatively there is increasing demand for it. Through the ‘Islamic Finance Literacy and Financial Inclusion Survey’, ( now started in the 20 Atolls of Maldives) the familiarity of the people to Islamic Finance and other financial products could be assessed and understood. This would be invaluable information for policy makers, bankers and other related parties to identify the obstacles in the way of Islamic Finance and Financial Inclusiveness, and what could be done to improve the financial literacy in the country.
