The Maldives which was on a high-growth trajectory for some years was challenged by natural disasters and political issues for long that impeded development in the economy and society. Recovering from these phases we have entered a critical juncture for our progress with much promise and potential. Going forward diligently, we need to fuel our aspiration with the necessary capacity among our key institutions and employees leading to efficient as well as sustainable governance. I had noted this critical need as it emerged in recent years and have been able to create a platform/vehicle, with the kind support of professional friends, to be able to add critical value expeditiously within the economy.

The Maldives Capacity Development and Governance Institute (MCDGI), a vehicle to contribute to our economic aspiration, leverage on the knowledge and experience I have been able to gain over the years notably at the Maldives Monetary Authority, as the CEO of the Capital Market Development Authority and from my international exposure. With the support of professional colleagues and friends who have pooled-in their own significant competence, we have been able to announce and conduct key training programs in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental agencies.

It is our aim to render training as well as consulting/applied research activities within the Maldives using both local as well as international expertise. We aim to expand and deepen our relationships among stakeholders – in particular with key institutions and experts as well as potential trainee segments – and very soon be the first-call and prime vehicle for capacity building including in good governance within the Country.
